Scholarships

Global Friendship Through Space Education extends scholarships to students aged 12-15 through its International Scholarship Program, enabling their participation in Space Camp Türkiye's 6-Day International Summer Camp. The primary objective of the International Scholarship Program is to bring together accomplished students, teachers, and companions from diverse countries and cultures. It encourages their involvement in Space Camp Türkiye's program, seamlessly integrating learning, fun, and friendship. The program aims to motivate students to pursue studies in science and mathematics while fostering cross-cultural understanding among participants worldwide.

We firmly believe that offering scholarships to gifted and underprivileged students for Space Camp Türkiye's six-day summer sessions will significantly broaden their horizons, instill motivation in mathematics and science, and provide them with the opportunity to forge friendships with peers from around the world. Since 2002, Global Friendship Through Space Education has granted scholarships to approximately 9,000 students from countries including Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, El Salvador, England, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Northern Cyprus, the Palestinian Authority, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Southern Cyprus, Spain, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, the USA, and Uzbekistan. Many of these students have found their time at Space Camp Türkiye to be a transformative and life-changing experience.

Throughout the immersive 6-day program, students:

  • Explore the wonders of the universe and the enchantment of science.
  • Immerse themselves in the excitement of simulator training.
  • Step into the shoes of an astronaut during a one-hour simulated shuttle mission.
  • Engage in hands-on activities by building and launching rockets and hot air balloons.
  • Acquire valuable skills for operating in a weightless environment.
  • Cultivate lasting friendships with peers from diverse countries, fostering a global perspective.
  • Develop essential teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Enjoy a range of sports, social, and recreational activities within an enriching educational setting.
  • Enhance English proficiency through immersive programs conducted by native English-speaking counselors.
  • Showcase their cultural identity through music, dance, and performances at the Special Events Night.
  • Conclude their experience with a memorable farewell celebration at the BBQ Party, complete with festive dancing.

Sponsorship

We seek partnerships with companies, organizations, or individuals who endorse the idea of advancing global peace through science and space education. (To explore how you can contribute, please visit Donations).

Sponsoring international students from countries beyond Türkiye not only benefits the students directly but also contributes to fostering a positive image of Türkiye. Likewise, sponsoring Turkish students provides them with a gateway to the world, and allows them to get to know different countries and cultures.

The letter below is from a former student of TEV İnanç Türkeş, a boarding school for gifted students in Izmit, illustrating the profound impact the Space Camp Türkiye experience can have on motivated young individuals.

“Hello Mr. Tolga,

I am from TEV Inanç Turkes Lisesi. I went to Space Camp in 2003 as a scholarship student and again as an intern in 2005. Space Camp was my first academic activity out of school.

I joined an astronomy program called Summer Science Program (www.ssp.org) which was founded by two very well known technical schools, Caltech and New Mexico Tech, in the summer of 2004. I made an astrophysics project with a professor from Sabanci University after attending these two camps. As I mentioned above Space Camp Türkiye was my first experience in a world outside of school. Before going I had goals just related to my school, but after going to Space Camp Türkiye in the summer of 2003 I had much bigger goals.

Thinking about it now, if I hadn’t gone to Space Camp Türkiye I wouldn’t have been encouraged to engage in new activities and projects. These projects and activities were the most important references on my college applications and without them I probably wouldn’t be able to go to school in a different country.

Thank you,”
