International Scholarship Program

Through its International Scholarship Program, Global Friendship Through Space Education provides scholarships to young individuals, aged 12-15, enabling their participation in Space Camp Türkiye's  6-Day International Summer Camp.  The programs are conducted in English, the language of Global Friendship.

The primary aim of the International Scholarship Program is to unite accomplished students, teachers, and chaperones from diverse countries and cultures, fostering their involvement in Space Camp Türkiye's program that seamlessly integrates learning, enjoyment, and friendship. The program motivates students to pursue studies in science and math and promotes cross-cultural understanding between students from different part of the world.


In 2022: 224 scholarships were awarded to Bulgaria, England, France, Georgia, Israel, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and Türkiye to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2021: 76 scholarships were awarded to Bulgaria, Israel, and Romania to attend the six days International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2019: 452 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Bulgaria, China, Czechia, France, Georgia, Greece, India, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Türkiye, United Kingdom, and USA to attend the six days International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2018: 357 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Türkiye, United Kingdom, and USA to attend the six days International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2017: 307 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Kirgizstan, Lithuania, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Türkiye, and United Kingdom to attend the six days International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2016: 263 scholarships were awarded to Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Palestine, Slovenia, Türkiye, and United Kingdom to attend the six days International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2015: 326 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Kirgizstan, Latvia, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Spain, Slovenia, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2014: 344 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Spain, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2013: 307 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Spain, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2012: 364 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Spain, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2011: 395 scholarships were awarded to Armenia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Chile, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Spain, Türkiye, Uruguay, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye

In 2010: 271 scholarships were awarded to students from Austria, Bulgaria, China, England, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, North Cyprus, the Palestinian Authority, Poland, Russia, South Cyprus, Spain, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2007: 286 scholarships were awarded to students from: Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, North Cyprus, the Palestinian Authority, Portugal, Russia, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2006: 290 scholarships were awarded to students from: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Germany, Greece, Israel, North Cyprus, the Palestinian Authority, Russia, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2005: 342 scholarships were awarded to students from: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, North Cyprus, Russia, Türkiye, and the U.S. to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2004: 462 scholarships were awarded to students from: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Israel, Jordan, North Cyprus, Russia, Türkiye, and the U.S, to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2003: 389 scholarships were awarded to students from: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Israel, Kazakhstan, North Cyprus, South Cyprus, Türkiye, the U.S., and Uzbekistan to attend the six-day International Summer Program at Space Camp Türkiye.

In 2002: 28 scholarships were awarded to students from Greece and Türkiye


While at Space Camp Türkiye students and teachers can:

  • Explore the Secrets of the Universe and the Magic of Science.
  • Experience the Fun of Astronaut Training Simulators: Engage in activities mirroring an astronauts routine.
  • Make Friends from Many Countries and Discover New Cultures.
  • Practice Teamwork and Leadership Skills.
  • Enjoy Sports, Social, and Recreational Activities in a Unique Educational Environment.
  • Improve English-language Skills: Participate in programs conducted by native English-speaking counsellors.

Hands-on, fun-filled science activities

  • Pretend you are an Astronaut: Undertake a one-hour simulated shuttle mission.
  • Try All Seven Astronaut Training Simulators: Experience re-entering Earth's atmosphere, exercise like astronauts, feel weightlessness, simulate walking on the moon, and engage with two new motion-based simulators.
  • Build and Launch a Rocket and Hot-air Balloon.
  • Present your Team's ideas to other teams by Designing a Mars Colony.
  • Observe the Moon, Planets, Stars, and the Sun: Utilize the high-powered telescope in our observatory.
  • Learn how to work in a Weightless Environment.
  • Participate in the 'Space Bowl', a competition between teams about space facts.
  • Study the constellations in the Digital Planetarium.
  • Contribute to designing your team's mission patch.
  • Enjoy Swimming Pool Activities.

Fun social and cultural events

  • Share Your Culture: Contribute to the Special Events Night with music, dance, and performances, showcasing the richness of your culture.
  • Participate in a Farewell Celebration: Join the BBQ Party with dancing as a joyful farewell celebration.
  • Utilize Free Time: Engage in various indoor games or partake in sports activities within the Space Camp Park during leisure hours.

Scholarship Selection Process:

  • Schools or organizations can apply for scholarships; individual applications are not considered.
  • All schools or organizations’ applications are evaluated according to GFTSE’s criteria.
  • Necessary documents including Scholarship Application Form are provided to selected schools.
  • School management assigns a Local Coordinator to run the scholarship process in the school, a Chaperone to accompany students during their trip to Space Camp Türkiye and a Reservation Contact person to work with Space Camp Türkiye’s reservation department to coordinate reservation and transportation details for all participants. The local Coordinator can act as Chaperone and Reservation Contact.
  • The Local Coordinator is the primary contact for the GFTSE’s staff.
  • Students are usually awarded scholarships in school groups of twelve* out of twenty* candidates.
  • School management selects twenty* candidates for scholarships and sends all necessary documents to GFTSE’s Regional Office.
  • Students’ Scholarship Application Forms and all other necessary documents are evaluated by GFTSE.
  • After the Scholarship Application evaluation process, GFTSE informs the school which students were selected to receive scholarships.

Scholarship Selection Process:

  • The GFTSE staff provides information to Space Camp Türkiye’s Reservation Department about the Local Coordinator, Chaperone, Reservation Contact, and selected students.
  • The Reservation Contact person works with Space Camp Türkiye’s reservation department to coordinate reservation and transportation details for all participants.
  • Space Camp Türkiye’s Reservation Department sends all necessary documents to the Reservation Contact in the school to start the registration process for the selected students.
  • The Reservation Contact person gathers completed, required documents from the selected students and sends them to Space Camp Türkiye’s Reservation Department.


* These numbers can be changed by GFTSE

Scholarships for Chaperones may not be available for every group.

GFTSE has the right to change the scholarship numbers and process at any time.
