Getting Started With The Partner School Science Program

The following information on school matching, teacher-student connections, and the curriculum process will assist you as you embark on a collaborative educational journey with the Partner School Science Program;

  • The GFTSE staff pairs schools.
  • Teachers communicate through the E-Pal messaging system (epals.com) or email. They share the school's location, brief information about the institution, the school mailing address, and details regarding the school calendar and holidays.
  • Exchange contact information, including alternative communication options like phone numbers.
  • Decide whether participation will be through an after-school program or as part of the school day curriculum.
  • Form a class or after-school club, determining the number of students participating in PSSP.
  • Exchange student lists, including full names, ages, and genders, with the Distance Learning Expert.
  • Assign each student an e-pal. Aim to pair students close in age. Students start emailing each other with introductory information.
  • Collaborate to choose a topic from the curriculum.
  • Once the topic is chosen, check the “Videoconferences” section on the website for instructions on setting up the first three-way videoconference with the Distance Learning Expert and your partner school.
  • Each topic involves two videoconferences. The first is right after selecting the topic. In the second and third weeks, students work on their projects. In the fourth week, they present projects to the Distance Learning Expert and partner school friends during the second videoconference.
  • Ensure a videoconference with Space Camp Türkiye before working on the first topic. Arrange a suitable date and time for both schools with the Distance Learning Expert.
  • During the first videoconference with Space Camp Türkiye, the Distance Learning Expert informs students about the topic. Students have 2 weeks to work on the topic and create projects.
  • Before the second videoconference with the Distance Learning Expert, both schools must agree on the date and time again.
  • In the fourth week, a second videoconference takes place where students present projects to the Distance Learning Expert and partner friends.
  • If possible, arrange a “Meet and Greet Videoconference Session” with your partner school, exclusively between the two schools. This allows students to see and talk to each other, fostering enthusiasm for the program.
